TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A farm-to-market road (FMR) project worth PhP1,206,750 was inaugurated in a turn-over ceremony recently in San Isidro, Cudal.
The FMR is a community sub-project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under its KALAHI-CIDDS Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan – IP CDD program.
KALAHI Area Coordinator Chan Keight Patongao said the project was “completed through the joint and collaborative effort of the agency, the community and the city government.”
In his message, Napoleon Ayang-ang, representing Mayor Darwin Estrañero, thanked the DSWD for the project and recognized the active involvement of the community in the implementation of the project. He also hoped for more projects responsive to the needs of the people and communities in the city to come.
He advised the residents of Cudal to take care of the FMR project so that it could serve them for a longer period.
The residents expressed their gratitude for the project, stating that it made it easier for them to transport their goods to the markets.
The barangay’s primary economic activity is farming, and it is also one of the city’s barangays that produces corn. Their additional produce includes rice and bananas.
Enrique Baliang, another representative of Mayor Estrañero; Basil Baluyan, representative of Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o; Sison Paut, representative of Governor James Edduba; and Cudal Barangay Captain Joey Laigo were also present during the turn-over ceremony. By Rod Asurin
