BONTOC, Mountain Province – Coming back to her hometown Bontoc, retired Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Dr. Virginia Akiate graced the provincial celebration of the Women’s Day on March 8, 2024.
Speaking before a jam-packed audience at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol grounds, she shared her journey from her humble beginnings until she reached the pinnacle of leadership of which she has witnessed the remarkable resilience and strength of women.

“But education is not just individual empowerment. It is also a catalyst for social change. When we invest in women’s education, we invest in the future of our society.
