BAGUIO CITY – As part of the digitalization of agriculture, farmers in the Cordillera region will now benefit from the Ifarm digital application, which will provide timely agriculture-related data needed in planning for their planting schedule and fame management operations.
This Agricultural Data Management and Enterprise Resource Planning software (otherwise referred to as the Farm APP) has been developed to assist the Department of Agriculture Cordillera (DA-CAR) through its Field Operations Division (FOD) in managing, capturing, processing, analyzing, and disseminating agricultural data and information, including tracking of prices of listed crops.
The Farm App features are centered on three general functions, particularly the capturing and analysis of crop planting information to anticipate and inform the market prices of listed crops, and the production of reports based on the geographical location of farms and market outlets.
The acquisition by DA-CAR of the said digital application aims to capitalize on technology and to take into consideration its critical role in ensuring strong food sufficiency, value chains, and affordable and nutritious food for consumers.
The use of the application is part of the digitalization of Philippine agriculture envisioned by DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. by utilizing the latest technologies available to make things faster and more convenient in the field of agriculture.
The digital application was introduced to the Regional Corn Coordinators during the recent three-day Regional assessment, planning, and workshop of the Corn Program representing the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province held in Baguio City. By JTLlanes
