BRGY. MONAMON SUR, BAUKO – Barangay officials and youths from three churches successfully conducted a clean-up drive activity at Sitio Pactil, Monamon Sur on June 12, 2023.
Three Christian churches arranged a clean-up drive activity and a prayer meeting immediately after the said activity. The program’s purpose is to improve and sustain the environment and to apply the sorting and recycling of wastes.
ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
Pactil Family Christian Church-Assembly of God (PFCC-AG), World Aflame Worship Center Inc. (WAWCI), and Jesus Christ Savior-Universal Pentecostal Church Inc. (JCS-UPCI) in Barangay Monamon Sur are the three churches involved in the said activity. In an interview, Jerameel Caburao, president of the three churches, said that this activity is coordinated with the barangay for them to help the community and encourage the passersby not to throw and litter along the roads. He also stated the term “rain or shine” to encourage the youths.
Moreover, more than 10 sacks of waste are collected composed of plastic bottles and different kinds of cellophane. According to Rogel Dag-or, member of Jesus Christ Savior-Universal Pentecostal Church Inc. (JCS-UPCI), lack of garbage bins and scattered bottles with a spit of “momma” or betel nut inside of it are the observed problem.
The one-day activity focused on cleaning along the roads and watershed. Moreover, 29 youths from the three churches of Pactil participated in the activity with the barangay officials.
ON YOUTH AND SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
According to Dorilyn S. Pakipac, Midwife of Sitio Pactil, one of the activity’s purposes is to divert the youth’s attention away from vices and lead them towards spiritual growth.
“Napintas nas activity da tapnu ma divert din attention da ya, instead nga man group da ay man nemnem, instead nga emmey da man ininom. Ma divert din attention da. Man round si community, tumulong da, maging good example da. (this activity is nice since it diverts the attention of the youth’s. Instead of thinking and going to bars, their attention is diverted in helping the community and being a good example)”
In addition, Caburao said that they voluntarily organized the activity so they can show that they want to help in their community.
“Daytoi nga activity gamin ket voluntary. Isunga pinag mi meetingan ti three churches ta tulong mi ditoy sitio pactil. Tapnu ipakita mi nga haan kami nga wara ti kalsada dyay kuma pag-asa ti kwa pag-ilyan.(This activity is voluntary, so we held a meeting with the three churches because this is our help to Sitio Pactil. So that we can show that we are the hope of the community.)”
The activity ended with a fellowship with the three churches led by Pastor Clifford Cudiamat with the theme “Kaidaydayawan iti Apo”. The message of the fellowship focuses on being a blessing to others and making a good thing for the glory of God.
