Rene Catalan dominated the first round of his ONE: Quest for Power match against Indonesian Adrian Matheis and successfully execute an armbar in the second round to shortcut his victory by submission last January 14, 2017 at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Catalan attempted various finishes during the match until an armbar swiftly end the straw weight bout at 2:08 mark of round 2.
This win leveled the mixed martial arts career record of Catalan and established a modest two successive victories that grants his wish of a winning streak.
His MMA career record climbed to an even 2-2, answering his first two losses with back-to-back wins that includes a unanimous decision over China’s You Liang Zhang last September 9, 2016.
Catalan’s win eased the loss of compatriot Vaughn, “The Spawn” Donayre against Vincent Latoel in a leightweight bout via a unanimous decision a few hours later.
Both fighters went up toe-to-toe the first two rounds before Latoel executed a series of takedowns in the third to earn the judges nod.
Both combatants tagged each other with intense combinations for the majority of the three-round contest.
Donayre showcased his grappling skills whenever action goes to the mat and threaten with various submissions off his back but Latoel was more consistent throughout the bout including controlling the cage.
The loss drops Donayre to 8-7 for his fight career. He is now just 1-7 in his last eight fights after his hot start of seven straight wins.
He lost all of his five fights in ONE championship cards, that includes his last three fights. He succumbed to a rear-naked choke against Amir Khan last November 11, 2016 and was unanimously outpointed by Honorio Banario last April 15, 2016
His two other losses came when ONE championship was still known as ONE FC.

Also, Ukranian Igor Subora, now based in Manila, earned his first ever ONE Championship win by outpointing Sheriff Mohamed of Egypt in a light heavyweight bout.
Mohamed threatened to knock him out in the final round, but Subora managed to weather the storm.
Subora earlier lost both of his attempts in the heavyweight division during his ONE stint, including one to Brandon Vera during ONE FC 23.
