Former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has called on potential presidential candidates in the 2022 elections to join the government in developing the country’s five-year economic plan.

“Sa five-year plan, inaalok natin ang lahat ng mga presidentiable, [at] lahat ng eksperto sa tourism, sa finance, sa transportation, [at] sa agriculture to join us in forming a five-year plan,” Cayetano said in a press conference on June 18.

(We are offering the opportunity to join us in forming a five-year plan to all presidentiables and experts, especially in the fields of tourism, finance, transportation, and agriculture.)

He said he and his allies are looking into “neutral” and non-partisan government officials and leaders to lead the creation of the post-pandemic plan.

“I’m hoping that we can get a retired Supreme Court Chief Justice or an economist na kilala na isang academician, o kaya si Secretary Karl Chua ng NEDA. Kasama niya ‘yung economic team ever since,” he added.

(I am hoping that we can get a retired Supreme Court Chief Justice, a known economist and academician, or National Economic and Development Authority [NEDA] Secretary Karl Chua to convene the team. Secretary Chua is not a politician; he is non-partisan and is an intelligent person. He has been with the economic team ever since.)

In the same press conference, he said he and his allies will propose the inclusion of an annual distribution of the P10,000 cash assistance for a minimum of three years in the post-pandemic plan to aid Filipino families in their recovery.

The said proposal would be similar to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the government.

“Doable itong P10,000, and we will push [this] doon sa five-year plan,” he noted.

“I’m hoping that we can get a retired Supreme Court Chief Justice or an economist na kilala na isang academician, o kaya si Secretary Karl Chua ng NEDA.

“Doable itong P10,000, and we will push [this] doon sa five-year plan,” sabi ni Cayetano.#
