A total of 750 beneficiaries from Santa Praxedes — one of the remotest municipalities in the Province of Cagayan — received livelihood aid from Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano on Tuesday.
Recipients from various sectors including women, farmers, laborers, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) received assistance at the Santa Praxedes Municipal Gymnasium on March 6, 2024.
The assistance was made possible through a partnership between the senators, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Santa Praxedes Local Government Unit (LGU), coordinated under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Santa Praxedes Mayor Esterlina Aguinaldo extended her heartfelt appreciation to the senators, saying it will help the people of the municipality recover from the pandemic’s impact on their livelihood.
“Nais ko po magpasalamat sa ating butihing senators sa ibinigay ninyong tulong para sa ating mga kababaihan at sa mga nagmamay-ari ng small business,” she said.
“Sa amin po dito sa bayan ng Santa Praxedes, napakaswerte po namin, hindi niyo po kami pinabayaan at nandyan kayo na naka antabay sa amin,” she added.
Shanny Bhey Tabandao, one of the beneficiaries, said the assistance will help her reestablish her livelihood. “Sa tulong po na ipinagkaloob nina Senator Alan Peter at Pia Cayetano, mapapalago ko po muli at maibabalik sa kaayusan ang aking sari-sari store,” she said.
With over 5,000 beneficiaries from the AICS program in the first two months of 2024, the project highlights the two senators’ commitment to address the pressing needs of communities nationwide.
