TABUK CITY, Kalinga – On April 7, 2022, members of the City Health Board and City Nutrition Committee gathered to address a number of agenda items, including a brief orientation on Universal Health Care (UHC) led by Jandel Taguiam from the City Health Office.
According to Taguiam on the UHC Act, every Filipino family is assigned to a primary care team, which ensures that everyone receives the best possible health care.
Taguiam commended Mayor Darwin Estrañero, who also serves as the chairman of the CHB, for his unwavering support for Tabukenos’ health, particularly during the pandemic, and in particular for supporting the RT-PCR lab and the 120-bed isolation units at Agbannawag.
Other topics discussed during the meeting include the presenting of accomplishment reports for the year 2021 by various members of the council. Among these are the 20 scholarships provided to children of barangay health workers and the TTMF’s kitchen operation during the Covid-19 pandemic’s peak.
They also discussed the quest for a healthy barangay and how to go about it. One of the hot topics at the meeting was a lactation station for nursing or breastfeeding employees.
