TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Employees of the city government have additional cause for celebration following Easter Sunday festivities on April 1, 2024 during the flag ceremony.
After serving his six-month suspension from the Office of the Ombudsman, City Mayor Darwin Estrañero has returned to his office after he was also exonerated of all charges brought against him.
Despite feeling persecuted, Estrañero thanked God and said he has done his best to help save the lives of thousands of Tabukeños during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
He joked that he was going to skip the flag ceremony as a prank because it was April Fool’s Day, but thought otherwise.
Mayor Estrañero extended his gratitude to the public for never losing faith in him and to those who stuck with him during his suspension.
Dismissing rumors
He then said that his presence during the first flag ceremony of the month would refute certain allegations that he is no longer able to return to his office, Estrañero stated.
“During my time of absence, I heard rumors that I can no longer come back as the mayor because of numerous cases filed against me,” he said, clarifying that unknown to the ones spreading the rumors that the charges were already dropped by the Office of the Ombudsman.
The city mayor then jokingly questioned whether these folks were simply relieved to see him out of office or where they obtained their information from.
