TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Returning after six months, Mayor Darwin Estrañero conveyed his gratitude to all the government officials, especially to Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o and Councilor Lucretina Sarol respectively, as well as the other Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) members, and the city government employees for their continued efforts to carry his vision during his absence.
He commended Councilor Sarol and City Vice Mayor Bal-o, noting that they both demonstrated their commitment to serving in his absence and their unwavering work in their respective committees, which guaranteed the ongoing momentum of the development of the city government’s initiatives and programs.
“I would like to convey my gratitude, from the bottom of my heart to all the officials and employees of the city for towing the line of good governance and for a job well done during the period of six months of my absence to serve the action imposed upon me [by the Office of the Ombudsman] which I respectfully complied with,” he said.
He also spoke to the barangay officials in attendance as well as other leaders of the various sectors in the City who continued to give their unwavering support to his leadership.
“You’ve given me greater motivation to try even harder to improve the quality of life of Tabukeños,”
“For officials, I must say, in times of Dunkirk or Conjuncture, like the COVID-19 [pandemic], the paramount consideration for us politicians, even if it means wasting our political career, is to make such decisions that will protect the welfare of our constituents and to save the lives thousands,” he underscored.
The mayor concluded by saying that he never regretted signing the document that resulted in his suspension because it helped save thousands of Tabukeños during the pandemic.
He advised everyone working in the public sector to always do what is right and to not back down from a challenge if it means protecting the interest of the constituents. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
