TABUK CITY, Kalinga –Winning families representing three districts of the city gathered today at Nambaran gymnasium to culminate the city-wide Family Day celebration through contested activities.
“Families and urbanization” is the event’s theme, which, according to Jimmy Suwagon, Punong Barangay of Nambaran, serves as a reminder for families to keep healthy relationships, particularly with their children, in order to help them develop values.
Enrique Baliang, who represented City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, stated in his message that the event is a recognition of the significant role that families play in the community.
According to him, families should uphold excellent values in light of the rapidly expanding urbanization and progress since doing so makes them stronger and improves the quality of people’s lives.
Also in attendance was Napoleon Ayang-ang who shared that the occasion was held to mobilize families to become partners in development. He encouraged families to maintain unity, respect and cohesiveness.
He said that every family should have a strong foundation, and it is the responsibility of every parent to teach his/her child(ren) develop values that help them become better persons in the future.
The city-wide Family Day celebration featured activities such as slogan and play presentations that highlight the achievements and difficulties of a family.
The occasion, which was organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office was also participated by child development workers, fourth-year Social Work students from the Kalinga State University, and some barangay officials.
