Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Alain Pascua lauded the city government under Mayor Benjamin Magalong for spearheading the construction of a quality school building in SPED Center.
Pascua who was in the city last week joined the mayor in his surprise inspection of the project, funding for which was sourced from the city government.
Pascua said the mayor’s practice of conducting surprise inspections of projects as what was done at SPED Center is commendable as this is one way of truly knowing the actual status of the work being done.
“Kaya’t binati ko si Mayor Magalong dahil sa proyektong ito na nanggaling sa LGU funds,” he said.
The mayor has been conducting ocular inspections of the different public schools to assess ongoing projects.
The inspections also enabled the mayor to determine the needs of some of the schools.
“Nakakaawa ang kalagayan ng ibang schools natin. We have to do more to help them improve their physical facilities,” he told department heads in one of the management committee meetings.
He said the SPED Center building was envisioned to become the standard for other school building projects to follow in terms of quality to ensure that students would really benefit from its use.
