LA TRINIDAD, Benguet March 27 – Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap allocated some P1 million as his donation to the provincial government purposely for its aggressive campaign against the spread of the dreaded Corona Virus Disease (CORONA) 2019 in the province.
Congressman Yap, who is recovering from the deadly virus after testing positive of the same last March 25, 2020, was represented by his Benguet-based staff Anthony Kuan when the latter turned over to Gov. Melchor Diclas the check amounting to P1 million as the lawmaker’s financial assistance to the province in the implementation of strategies that will help in preventing the spread of the COVID in the province in the coming weeks.
The amount will be used by the provincial government in bankrolling the provision of relief assistance to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the province, the extension of aid to the displaced workers in the informal sector, among other programs, projects and activities that will allow the province to highten its anti-COVID campaign.
Officials of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Benguet chapter expressed their sincerest gratitude to Congressman Yap for his donation to the province for its anti-COVID as the same will surely go a long way in the provision of sufficient resources for the personal protective equipment of frontliners, relief assistance for the marginalized and vulnerable sectors among the other needs of the public that will arise during the implementation of the ongoing enhanced community quarantine.
LMP Benguet chapter Secretary-General and Mankayan Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong lauded the lawmaker’s show of concern to the welfare of the people of the province despite his present condition that only illustrates his verdant desire to willingly serve no matter what it would take him.
“We deeply appreciate the efforts of Congressman Yap to go out of his way and provide the financial assistance to the province even with his present condition after testing positive for the deadly virus. We hope that such actuation of our caretaker congressman will serve as an inspiration and motivation for us to heighten our efforts to provide assistance to our constituents during these trying times,” Mayor Ayong stressed.
For his part, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo K. Salda commended the caretaker’s timely decision to extend the needed financial assistance to the province because the frontliners really need the sufficient aid for them to be able to effectively and efficiently discharge their duties and responsibilities aside from the need to provide separate relief assistance to the disadvantaged sectors of the community.
He said that the disposition of the assistance will depend on the sound discretion of the provincial government so that the overall concerns of the frontliners and the vulnerable and marginalized sectors will be given appropriate attention.
The local chief executive asserted that the provision of such assistance only shows Congressman Yap’s verdant desire to serve not only his party-list group but also the people of the province.
