BUGUIAS, Benguet March 29 – A local village chief ordered the stoppage of the harvesting and transporting of vegetables o markets inside and outside the barangay until April 3, 2020 in the light of the continuous surge in the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases in the country over the past several days.
Amlimay punong barangay Dizon B. Dolo issued Executive Order No. 2, series of 2020 the stoppage of the harvesting and the transport of vegetables in the different inside and outside the municipality was anchored on the worsening threat of the COVID-19 that pose a serious threat to the health of the residents, especially when going out in their vegetable farms and transporting their produce to the different markets where there is convergence of people, thus, they might eventually contract the dreaded illness and spread the same in the barangay.
Barnagay Amlimay is one of the vegetable-producing barangays in the municipality that is located in the border of Kabayan and Buguias town and is composed of the sitios of Guioeng, Taguinda, Bangbangayen, Paynag, Abat-Apunan, Kipit-Salidet-Tattawa, Daclan-Toplac, Damang-Tacap-Bana-ao, Tonglo-Lulutab, and Besocol.
The punong barangay urged residents to comply with the conditions of the executive order to prevent them from being carriers of the deadly virus and spread the same in their barangay once exposed to confirmed COVID-19 cases wile transacting business in the different markets where they intend to sell their agricultural produce.
He said that the health of the residents is the primordial concern of the barangay that is why the executive order was issued to ensure their protection and prevent them from doing activities that could expose them to contracting the contagious disease and eventually become the source of the illness in the barangay considering that the barangay remains COVID-19 free since the start of the implementation of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
