LA TRINIDAD, Benguet March 25 – The municipal government is providing the transportation for students from other provinces stranded in the municipality to allow them to join their families while the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine is in effect.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda said are some employees of the municipal government assigned to survey the different barangays to inventory the actual number of stranded students in the different boarding houses and their places of origin so that the municipality can arrange the vehicles for their transportation.
He stated the municipal government had been receiving numerous inquires from the stranded students on how will they can go home to the province to join their families for the remaining duration of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine as most of them are running out of food supply and allowances to sustain their stay in the municipality.
The municipal chief executive assures that after the completion of the inventory, the municipal government will schedule the rides to ferry the stranded students to their destination.
Earlier, Kalinga Rep. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang, Mountain Province Rep. Maximo Dalog, Jr. and Ifugao Rep. Solomon Chungalao issued separate advisories to students from their provinces who remain stranded in Baguio City and Benguet to get in touch with their point persons for the provision of the appropriate assistance.
“We want to help our stranded students in the municipality who come from other places inside and outside the province and who want to go home. We urge the stranded students to get in touch with our assigned personnel so that we will be able to know the number of vehicles to be prepared for their transportation requirements,” Mayor Salda stressed.
The municipal mayor also urged the barangay officials in the town’s 16 barangays to help the municipal government’s assigned personnel survey stranded students in the different boarding houses in their areas of jurisdiction so that the municipality can immediately prepare their transportation to allow them to go home.
He explained the municipal government understands the predicament of the stranded students considering the depletion of their food supply.
Salda appealed to the concerned stranded students to understand the prevailing situation, especially the restricted movement of people, because it is one of the recommended precautionary measures by the health department to prevent the further spread of the deadly virus in the municipality while the government is putting measures to ease the effect of the quarantine on people.
