LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao office of the Department of Education (DepEd), in partnership with the Provincial Health Office and the Provincial Nutrition Council, recognized the outstanding achievements of schools participating in the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program.
Designed to promote healthy eating habits and combat malnutrition among the youth, an awarding ceremony was conducted earlier today, August 29, 2023 at the Clubhouse, AETSC, Luna, to give recognition to the best implementers of the said program.
After a rigorous evaluation process, three exceptional schools emerged as the frontrunners, showcasing their dedication to promoting the health and wellness of their students. The winners were announced and their impressive achievements in promoting agriculture and nutrition education were highlighted.
Conner Central School claimed the coveted first-place position, earning a well-deserved prize of P30,000.
The Santa Marcela Central School secured the second position with their efforts, earning a prize of P20,000. Their innovative approach to involving students in hands-on gardening activities and nutritional education made a significant impact.
The third-place was awarded to Anninipan Elementary School, with a cash prize of P10,000.
Recognizing the importance of participation and the effort invested by other schools, consolation prizes of P5,000 each were awarded to the remaining participants in the competition.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Mark Calban, in his closing remarks, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the DepEd family for the program’s resounding success. He underlined the pressing issue of malnutrition in the province, emphasizing the necessity of partnering with DepEd to address the health and well-being of the children. “Hopefully, we can sustain this program every year, especially with the added incentive of prizes. This reflects the best practices in our children’s homes, making all of us instruments in our fight against malnutrition,” Calban said. By JCM
