BAGUIO CITY March 30 – The number of confirmed Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases in the Cordillera drastically increased to 17 following the arrival of confirmatory test results of previously pending samples that were earlier transmitted to the Manila-based Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Based on the latest advisory of the Cordillera Office of the health department, Baguio accounted for the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases with 12, including the first case that was able to recover from the deadly virus, followed by Aba and Benguet with 2 confirmed cases each.
The confirmed COVID-19 cases in Baguio include a 61-year old female from Italy, a 52-year old female from Metro Manila, a 23-year old male from Metro Manila, a 70-year old female from Metro Manila, a 67-year old female from Metro Manila, a 67-year male who had close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, a 73-year old female from Metro Manila, a 49-year old male from Metro Manila, a 31-year old male from Metro Manila, a 52-year old male who was said to have local transmission of the virus a 59-year male who had history of travel abroad and a 46-year old male who had c lose contact with a positive case.
Earlier, a 55-year old male that earlier tested positive for COVID-19 and who is a member of one of the chambers of Congress already recovered from the contagious virus after testing negative for COVID-19 in his final test with the RITM while the confirmatory test result of a presumptive COVID-19 case who is a 55-year old female who had history of travel from more Manila to Baguio city is still being awaited.
Benguet had the highest number of persons under investigation (PUIs) with 384 where 20 are admitted in hospitals, 218 are under home quarantine and 146 have been discharged; Baguio had 138 PUIs with 38 confined in hospitals, 68 are under home quarantine and 32 were discharged; Apayao had 53 PUIs where 14 are hospitalized, 38 are under home quarantine and 1 was discharged Kalinga had 40 PUIs where 4 are confined in the hospital, 34 are under home quarantine and 2 were discharged; Mountain Province had 35 PUIs where 6 are confined in hospitals, 23 are under hoe quarantine and 6 have been discharged; Abra had 20 PUIs where no one was confined in the hospital, 11 are under hoe quarantine and 9 were discharged wile Ifugao had 1 PUIs where no one was hospitalized, 9 are under hoe quarantine and 1 was discharged.
