BAGUIO CITY – In view of the national and local elections, the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council will elevate its alert level status from white to blue effective May 8 (Sunday) to May 10 (Tuesday).
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the Office of Civil Defense Cordillera will be partially activated to maintain close coordination with member agencies of the regional council and the local DRRM councils. As the nerve center for alert and monitoring, the OCD Cordillera EOC ensures operational coordination and information management including resource and response mobilization if needed.
“We appeal to all our local counterparts to harmonize preparedness measures. High-density population gatherings like this should also be one of our priorities. This is our way of supporting the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines who are the forefront for safety and security concerns during elections” stressed Mr. Jerome Paragas, Operations Chief of OCD Cordillera.
As the chairperson of the Cordillera RDRRM Council, OCD CAR Dir. Andrew Alex Uy signed and issued Memorandum No. 14 series 2016 directing all LDRRMCs to back the regional council’s efforts in facilitating emergency response mechanisms.
“Together, let us untiring gly work to ensure a free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible conduct of this year’s national and local elections” said Dir. Uy.
Also, OCD Cordillera will lend generator sets to back the power supply before, during and after elections. The commitment was made during the brief conference on April 21 with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Department of Energy and the Commission on Elections.
