TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office (CSCCO) has initiated a 30-day training on massage therapy for persons with disabilities and their parents and guardians beginning August 7.
Genevieve Wagayan, the lecturer for the training said 15 participants were called to take part of this endeavor. She said there is demand for massage therapy because people need it to feel more relaxed after a stressful day.
One of the trainees is Donna Sinnay from Brgy. New Tanglag who took advantage of the free training to assist her two children suffering from muscle dystrophy.
Napoleon Ayang-ang, representing Mayor Darwin Estrañero encouraged the participants to complete the training so they could learn more and become better massage therapists.
Also in attendance during the opening ceremony is City Special Concerns and Coordinating Officer Glen Wansi addressing the participants not to let their disability limit them on what they are capable to do. The training, he said, is a effort of the city government to help PWDs learn skills to make them earn for themselves and for their families.
The training which covers 15 days of lecture and 15 days of massage application is provided to help participants acquire a source of livelihood. They will be given a certificate of completion after the 30-day training sessions.
The city government provides snacks and lunch for the participants throughout the duration of the training.
