TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In today’s program review and evaluation for solo parents of District 1, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) presented the assessment tool used to gauge the performance of every solo parent organization in the city for this year.
Judith Kaye Sangdaan, Social Welfare Officer of CSWDO presented, the key areas as basis for evaluation, and these are organization (membership, management of funds, meetings conducted, plans, reports and documentation of good practices), community development participation (participation in solo parents month celebration, attendance to stress management seminar, and membership in people’s organization) and productivity and skills development (skills training and income-generating activity).
Sangdaan reminded the participants that all activities planned to be undertaken should be aligned with the key areas in the assessment tool.
The solo parent group, according to Social Welfare Officer Marinel Dorgay, is a federation of women’s organizations created in the local government units to help and empower women. Additionally, she stated that single parents are a vulnerable group that shouldn’t be left behind in terms of growth.
Enrique Baliang, representing acting Mayor Dick Bal-o, stated in his message that the city administration is always willing to provide assistance that will uphold the rights of solo parents.
The city government also acknowledges the sacrifices made by solo parents who raise and care for their children on their own, applauding their bravery and fortitude in taking on this challenging role. By Darwin S. Serion
