TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Dance presentation with cash prizes highlighted today’s celebration of solo parents from District 3, organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The participants came from barangays Lacnog West, Lacnog, Bulanao,Bulanao Norte, and Nambaran.
Napoleon Ayang-ang, speaking on behalf of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, urged the solo parents to make their kids as inspiration to overcome the difficulties they face.
According to Ayang-ang, being a solo parent doesn’t prevent one from succeeding in life; rather, it serves as motivation to overcome the difficulties that come on a daily basis.
He claimed that the city government offers services and programs for their overall development, as well as scholarships for their kids.
Social welfare officer Eusebia Edduba, underlined that raising children can be challenging when there is an overflow of responsibilities, particularly when one parent makes all the decisions and takes care of all the family’s needs.
She claimed that some activities like dancing and other exercises can help single parents relax and unwind.
Zyra Kersten Daluping, the coordinator for the CSWDO’s Solo Parents Welfare Program, gave a presentation on the plans, programs, and activities for solo parents in 2023 to cap off the celebration, which also included parlor games and raffle giveaways.
According to CSWDO data, there are 149 registered lone parents in District 3. During the event, they were reminded to routinely renew their membership in order to take advantage of the government services provided to them.
