BONTOC, Mountain Province – More medalists and coaches during this year’s Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) part one and two from the eastern municipalities of Paracelis, Natonin, and Barlig received their cash incentives from the provincial government on October 11-13, 2023.
According to provincial sports officer Wilfred Bilog, the provision of cash incentives to the recipients is pursuant to the Provincial Ordinance No. 351, an ordinance that provides cash prizes to deserving delegates who garnered medals to any regional, national, and international sponsored competitions.
Based on the said ordinance, each medalist received PhP3,000 for every gold medal, PhP2,000 for every silver medal, and PhP1,000 for every bronze medal they won while the winning coaches received PhP1,500 for every gold medal, PhP1,000 for every silver medal, and PhP500 for every bronze medal that their athletes have won.
The incentives were personally delivered and handed over to the recipients in their respective schools by Executive Assistant John T. Challoy, representing Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., together with Provincial Sports and Development Coordinator Nicasio Calde and other personnel from the Provincial Sports Development Office and Provincial Treasury Office.
“Inbaon Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. dakami nga mang-iyumay dituy da incentives yo ta kayat na nga dakayo ti personal nga mang-awat. Kayat na nga umabot kanyayo. Daytuy jay kunan na nga Barangay Muna. Dakami ti mang idanun ti serbisyo kanya yo,” Challoy explained.
In addition, Challoy was one with Calde in relaying their and Lacwasan’s congratulations and encouragement to the athletes to continue doing their passion for sports without putting their education at risk. According to both, their studies must still be their top priority.
“Ag-awis kayo pay ti kakadwa yo nga maki join ti sports activities tapnu umad adu kayo ken adda ti kadwa yo nga ag prac-practice ken ag ay-ayam. Saya-aten yo nga ag practice tapno maisali kayo manen no next ken mangabak kayo manen. Mayat nga kitaen ti isem yo nga mang awat,” Calde added.
Meanwhile, aside from the disbursement of cash incentives, the fares of the CARAA athletes were also refunded and personally turned over to them.
