LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Science and Technology Office-Apayao (PSTO) participated in the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) celebration which took place in Bangued, Abra from recently.
Themed, “Siyensya, Technolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan – Leveraging Green, Innovative Technologies for Climate Change Adaptive Agriculture in CAR,” said event aimed to emphasize the organization’s science, technology, and innovation (STI) efforts and bring them to the forefront in the region.
As part of the celebration, various activities such as the launch of the Bamboo Fiber Hub and KatHABI Fashion were presented to demonstrate the DOST’s efforts, as well as their unending partnership with other agencies, in strengthening the weaving industry in the region by utilizing abundant raw materials in the communities.
Similarly, the science and technology innovation exhibits, interactive exhibits, and Escape Rooms have created an interface between science and society, with the goal of engaging the public in learning new facts and experiencing new things in an effort to stir and develop their critical thinking skills, as well as to captivate interests in science, technology, and innovation.
Furthermore, the Technology Bazaar featured the display and sale of various research and development-based products by beneficiaries of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), Local Grants In Aid Program (LGIA), and Community Empowerment through Science and Technology Program (CEST).
Meanwhile, through the celebration the DOST-Apayao workforce was equipped with knowledge to establish more innovative initiatives to enhance the province’s weaving industry. By Jomela Dela Torre
