“Opening the heart of Ifugao for agricultural potential” is the ultimate goal for the construction of a Gravel Road traversing Barangays Boliwong-Abinuan-Nattum-Alimit, located in the Municipality of Mayoyao.
DPWH-CAR headed by Regional Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol with Ifugao Representative Solomon R. Chungalao, Governor Jerry O. Dalipog, Mayoyao Mayor Jimmy B. Padchanan, Jr. led the ceremonial groundbreaking and capsule-laying of the 8.34-kilometer road opening project that was expected to create physical link and connectivity along the aforementioned barangays and their accessibility to the existing national roads. Once completed, this interjurisdictional road will also connect the municipalities of Mayoyao, Lagawe and Aguinaldo.
RD Tanggol thanked the people and officialdom of Ifugao for their unwavering support on all DPWH projects within the province and has commended the Congressman for his hardwork and dedicated service. He has also sought the cooperation of all the barangay officials and residents in the smooth implementation of the project because the agency has already adopted the Cash Budgeting System. He explained that if the project is not finished on time, the funds will lapse and will be reverted to the Bureau of Treasury.
Congressman Chungalao backed this plea and enjoined the support of all the stakeholders for the successful completion of the project. He underscored that roads are arteries of economic stability and they play an essential role in any development agenda. He highlighted that the expansion of road infrastructure promises to increase assets and create economic possibilities for local businesses and households. “Daytoy nga kalsada ket pagsayaatan ti umili, pagsayaatan tayu”, he furthered.
Meanwhile in his message, Governor Dalipog has expressed his gratitude to the Department and to the Ifugao Representative for continuously supporting their initiatives at all cost. He emphasized that if all project proposals for road opening will be materialized, development around the area will prosper and become sustainable. The completion of these roads will promote economic efficiency allowing an easier, and more convenient transport of agricultural products/goods and essential services between barangays and towns.
Implemented by the Regional Office with a funding allocation of 241 Million, the agency is committed to completing the project by April of next year. According to PDD Asst Division Chief Juliet W. Chan, the scope of work consists of Earthwork, Subbase and Base Course, Drainage and Slope Protection Structures and Miscellaneous Structures.
Present also during the groundbreaking ceremony held at Brgy, Nattum, Mayoyao Ifugao on May 26, 2023 were Mayoyao Vice Mayor Rudy N. Chilagan Jr., DPWH Ifugao 2nd DEO District Engineer Rommel N.
