BAGUIO CITY September 22 – A 47-year old manicurist who was said to be a drug surrenderee died after she was allegedly shot to death by still unidentified lone gunman in front of the Sari-Sari Section of the Baguio City Public Market, here around 11:30 am Thursday.
Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Chona Oliveros, 47, married, manicurist and a resident of Padre Zamora, Baguio City, who is reportedly the No. 1 in the drug watchlist of BCPO Station No. 2.
Initial police investigation showed while the victim was performing her trade along the Hanger area of the public market, the lone gunman wearing black jacket and bonnet suddenly appeared from nowhere and fired at her several times hitting her on her head.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but she was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple gunshot wounds on her head.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene three spent shells of a calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
Witnesses informed probers that after making sure that he was able to hit his target, the suspect walk away towards Lower Magsaysay Avenue as if nothing happened in the place of incident.
Probers are still conducting an investigation on the motive of the suspect in the perpetration of the crime against the victim.
