TABUK CITY, Kalinga– A total of 561 students from the province benefitted from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during the first pay-out held August 20.
The total amount released by the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office- Kalinga is P1,708,000.
According to Social Welfare Officer Lorna Lumioan, the educational assistance does not cover all students from elementary to tertiary levels regardless of school and location of school.
She explained that only students from poor family, working students, breadwinner of the family, orphan and abandoned, those with disability, children of solo parent, calamity victims are qualified to receive assistance.
Pertaining amount of assistance, she said elementary students get P1,000, while P2,000 for Junior High School, P3,000 for Senior High School, and P4,000 for college students.
To claim amount, qualified beneficiaries must present school registration form or certificate of enrolment, and any valid ID.
The next pay-out is initially scheduled on August 27.
