TABUK CITY, Kalinga – With the aim to inspire, recognize, and showcase creative talents in the fields of songwriting, screenwriting, playwriting, graphic novel, animation, game development, and content creators, the Department of Trade and Industry launched the “Young Creatives Challenge” (YC2) for the youth with a grand prize worth PhP1 million.
According to Kevin Racraquin, Trade Industry Development Analyst, the competition is open for all creative stakeholders who are natural-born Filipino youth ages 18-35, whether they be amateurs or professionals.
Additionally, the content submitted must be an original work of the participant, be they an individual or a group. Plagiarized work would result in immediate disqualification.
The participants are given free rein to choose their topics/subjects however they wish to provide the contestants wider scope to showcase their talents more.
Prizes for song writing, screenwriting, playwriting, graphic novel, animation, and game development consist of PhP1 million for the grand prize, PhP500 thousand for the 1st runner-up, PhP300 thousand for the 2nd runner-up, PhP100 thousand for the 3rd runner-up, PhP50 thousand for 6 contestants, and PhP30 thousand to the top 30 semi-finalists per category.
Racraquin also said that Tik Tok content creators also have a chance for a PhP30 thousand grand prize for the “Online Content Challenge”.
Mechanics for the online challenge must showcase Filipino creativity in the fields of music, film, theatre arts, animation, graphic novel, and game development, and that it should showcase the YC2 competition.
Prizes include PPh30 thousand for the grand prize, PhP20 thousand for the 1st runner-up, PhP15 thousand for the 2nd runner-up, and PhP5 thousand for 27 participants as consolation prizes.
Deadline for submission of entries is on September 30.
