The Employers Confederation of the Philippines recently held the ECOP Chapter Development Workshop which was attended by the ECOP-North Luzon delegates at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati, Metro Manila on February 8-9, 2017.
This workshop aimed at formulating action plans to make ECOP chapters fully operational and to be able to fulfill their duties as the conduits of ECOP in their respective areas. ECOP-North Luzon’s initial action work plan is to kick-off the birth of ECOP-Baguio Chapter which is to strengthen Cordillera Administrative Region.
Its purpose is not only to establish an organized employers aggrupation but to be advocates in supporting the issues and challenges confronted by the local business community. Likewise, ECOP-North’s objective is to influence the government in crafting labor and social policies through strategic planning.
A visit of ECOP-North Pres. Ed Poserio happened during a meeting of RTWPB-CAR by which simultaneously yours truly (Engr. Alfonso Lao) took an oath as the Regional Governor of ECOP-North CAR held at DOLE Regional Office in Baguio City last February 28, 2017. Said oath taking were attested by the RTWPB-CAR/DOLE OIC Dir. Exequiel Ronie Guzman, Wage Board Secretary, Mr. Augusto Aquillo and other members of the RTWPB-CAR.
On the other hand, ECOP-Baguio will be headed by the incoming president, Mr. Butch Mascarinas; election of officers will follow in the upcoming RTIPC meeting. There is no doubt that labor, employment, and social issues are vital in the north areas.
With ECOP-North Luzon’s presence, these concerns will be addressed to help lessen the labor threats and increase employment opportunities.
