TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)- Cordillera awarded an additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) system to the city government for remote monitoring and security of the sanitary landfill situated in Barangay Dilag on November 22, 2023.
One of the reasons the city government received the CCTV was because it complied with the various mandates of the national government for a clean and healthy environment.
Acting Mayor Dick Bal-o received the CCTV, along with Salud Lammawin, Head of the City Environment Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and her team, from EMB-CAR OIC Regional Director Jean C. Borromeo.
Through the CCTV, the EMB Central Office and EMB Regional Office can electronically monitor the landfill’s operations and ensure that solid waste management regulations are being implemented.
In addition, Henry Angli from Lacnog West, who received an award during the Environmental Summit, was the recipient of one unit of bioshredder machine from EMB-CAR as part of his group’s efforts to manage biodegradable wastes and turn them into organic fertilizer for the city’s farmers.
Additionally, EMB-CAR and CENRO visited a farm in the city that engages in environmentally sustainable gardening. By Ian Jefrey Addatu
