LA PAZ, Abra – A 67-year old farmer was injured after he was repeatedly shot by two still unidentified gun-wielding individuals while he was fencing his farm at sitio Ar-arusip, Buli, here, Monday morning.

Police authorities identified the injured individual as Rodrigo Beronilla Dolor, 67, married, farmer, and a resident at the place of Sitio Ar-arusip, Barangay Buli, La Paz, Abra.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim was working on the fence of his farm when two still unidentified armed men suddenly appeared from nowhere and started firing at him using M-16 Armalite assault rifles.

The victim tried to elude the shooting spree by running towards the farm of a fellow farmer who happened to be in the same area at the time of the incident to seek refuge.

However, the armed suspects continue firing at the victim until he was able to seek refuge in the farm of another person that prompted them to flee from the crime scene.

The victim reportedly sustained a lone gunshot wound on his chest and was initially given emergency medical treatment at the La Paz district hospital before being transferred to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene 8 spent shells of an assault rifle that was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
