LICUAN, Abra April 10 – A 77-year old farmer was injured after he was shot by a member of the municipal council when he attempted to intervene in an altercation at Tumalip, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the injured individual as Rodolfo Bautista Torres, 77 years old, married, farmer while the suspect was named as Periam Jaquias Tadeo, 66 years old, married, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Licuan-Baay, Abra and both residents of Tumalip, Licuan-Baay, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim witnessed an altercation involving the suspect and a streetsweeper when he tried to attack the latter with a bolo but he was then shot by the gun-wielding individual before fleeing towards and undisclosed direction.
The victim was rushed to the Seares Memorial Hospital for medical treatment where he was under observation while the suspect was said to have fled to the capital town of Bangued.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene a spent shell of a calibre .380 revolver used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
