BANGUED, Abra – A 46-year old farmer was arrested by combined police operatives for illegal possession of firearms after he failed to present the required documents of the firearm seized from his possession in a police buybust operation at barangay Agtangao, here recently.
Senior Superintendent Albertlito S. Garcia, director of the Abra provincial police office, identified the arrested gun wielder as Benjamin Balubar Bugtong, 46, a resident of Barangay Agtangao, Bangued, Abra.
Prior to his arrest, Bugtong was on board a black Motorstar tricycle bearing plate number AY 3518 driven by Cles Pilarta Valeros, 27, tricycle driver, when they were flagged down by the operatives that led to the confiscation of one long magazine loaded with13 live ammunition for caliber 5.56 from the possession of Bugtong who failed to present pertinent documents of the same.
Bugtong together with the seized items were brought to the Bangued MPS for documentation prior to the filing of Violation of the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 10591 known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act against the suspect.
In addition, One (1) long homemade shotgun; One (1) short homemade shotgun and one (1) homemade gauge 12 shotgun, all have no serial numbers and ammunition while one (1) Caliber .38 revolver with serial no. 902968 were surrendered by the local government officials and concerned citizens of Pudtol, Apayao to the members of Pudtol MPS in support of the PNP’s intensified campaign against loose firearms in the province.
