FLORA, Apayao – Anchored on the goal of attaining a healthier community, the municipal government aimed at strengthening its health facilities and services this year to better cater to the needs of the people.
In a joint meeting of the Local Health Board (LHB) and Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) led by Flora Mayor Rodolfo Juan on January 31, the vision of providing Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), sanitary facilities, seed distribution programs, and Blood Donation activities were considered.
These endeavours are aligned with the primary responsibilities of the LHB and MNC, ensuring for an improved quality of health status across the municipality.
The board and the council exist to provide policy guidance relative to health care services, assess the needs of the community, develop and implement interventions to resolve health concerns.
Municipal Health Officer Dr. Karizza Joie Hurtado, who facilitated the convening, highlighted the integral role of each member to achieve the desired outcomes. She added that the community’s health and well-being of citizens are to be placed as topmost concerns to foster wellness among the constituents.
Mayor Juan, in his statement, has solicited the body’s active involvement for the execution of agreed plans and initiatives.
Likewise, medical technologists Charie Cueco and Juliet Nicolas, Provincial Coordinator of the National Voluntary Blood Services Program Manny Nicolas, after presenting the Blood Letting Activity plan to be conducted sooner, sought support from barangay officials to ensure success of projects and programs.
The joint meeting was also attended by Vice Mayor Hon. Jeofrey T Blas, Health Committee Chair Hon. Vic F. Maruquin, Hon. Manny H. Biggayan, Municipal Administrator Mrs. Marilou B. Valdez, municipal department heads, and representatives, RHU Flora personnel, civil society organization representatives, DepEd personnel ( Flora secondary schools principals and teachers-in-charge) punong barangays, few municipal officials, presidents of associations of barangay health workers and nutrition scholars, and other members of the board and council.
