FLORA, Apayao – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) disbursed a total of PhP620,000 cash incentives to accredited barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNSs) of at the Dr. Efren U. De San Jose Memorial Gymnasium in this town on January 5, 2023.
A total of 124 BHWs and BNSs from the municipality were beneficiaries of this initiative of the provincial government, with each receiving PhP5,000 in addition to kits which include boots, umbrellas, and uniforms.
BHWs and BNSs play a vital role in the delivery of health services, imparting fundamental health education, and administering specific primary healthcare services at the barangay level. Serving as a link between the community and healthcare facilities, they conscientiously conduct regular household visits and fulfill their responsibilities within designated healthcare facilities.
In recognition of their commitment, the provincial government provides additional incentives to all accredited BHWs and BNSs across the province, with a designated schedule per municipality.
These incentives serve as a token of appreciation for the heroic services displayed during times of crisis and the dedication shown in their roles as health advocates in their respective barangays. The primary objective is to motivate and encourage these individuals to persist in their valuable work, promoting community health and well-being.
Hon. Vic L. Maruquin, Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chairperson for Health, expressed his utmost gratitude to the BHWs and BNSs for their dedicated work.
Maruquin said the incentives are a means to recognize the sacrifices and dedication the barangay workers consistently exhibit, whether in times of calamity or during periods of stability.
“Dagituy nga incentives nga maawat yu ket saan nga umanay a sukat iti sakripisyo ken dedication iti ubra yu, agbag-bagyo man wennu agin-init iti tiempo,” he said. By MOA
