BAGUIO CITY – A 38-year old security guard died after he allegedly shot himself while playing his service firearm during a drinking session with a companion at the Joaquin Smith National High School, Bacbacan, Km. 4, Asin road, Sunday dawn.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Alvin Libao Quiapo, 38, single, stay-in security guard at the place of incident, and a native of Sta. Ana, Manila.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and a companion were having a drinking session when he allegedly got his service firearm and started playing with it.
He then pointed the gun on his head and squeezed the trigger twice that caused it to fire off hitting him on his head.
The victim was rushed by concerned citizens to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to gunshot wounds on his dead.
Responding police operatives recovered from the crime scene the victim’s calibre .38 revolver with three live ammunitions.
The case is still subject to further investigation to ascertain whether or not there was a foul play during the said incident.
