The Ifugao State University (IFSU)-University Supreme Student Government (USSG) together with the Vocational Leaders of the Philippines College Chapter (VLPCC) organized the first student pantry of IFSU in Lagawe Campus to genuinely extend help to students.
USSG President Renee Licyayo said that the initiative is part of their pandemic outreach program. “With the blended learning that our campus has adopted for the delivery of instruction, many students from far places who could not access Internet connectivity in their localities opted to come to Lagawe and rent rooms and with the implementation of MECQ in our locality, these students are encountering hardships in accessing basic needs from their families.
With this reason, we in the USSG/VLPCC planned and organized a student pantry to give assistance and help augment their needs. We were able to raise funds through solicitation and donations coming from our generous donors,” said Licyayo.
Aside from the vegetables, rice, canned goods, and instant foodstuffs, the organization together with the faculty members are planning for a “load pantry” to assist students in their online classes and online submission of their requirements.
Lagawe Campus Executive Director (CED), Vicky Cadalig expressed her support and commendations to the Student Organization for a job well done.
Considering the number of students, the USSG and VLPCC are willing to extend this initiative as long as there are available resources.
