Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos spread cheer to hundreds of residents of Barangay Malanday in Marikina City heavily affected by floods caused by typhoon Karding and the southwest monsoon rains.
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro joined the governor in distributing relief goods donated by the provincial government of Ilocos Norte and other sponsors at Purok 5 Covered Court on Wednesday.
The Mayor and Governor even danced to the tune of the popular ‘Momoland’ song together with the crowd in a light hearted moment.
“Bilib ako sa katatagan at katapangan ninyo,” the Governor told the flood victims.
Marikina City was one of the hardest-hit areas in Metro Manila, with more than 21,000 people evacuated. The Marikina River swelled to more than 20 meters at the height of the non-stop rains.
Kaya’t kahit anong konting maitutulong, nandito pa rin kami,” she further said.
