BAGUIO CITY – John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) in collaboration with the iCanServe Foundation and the John Hay Business Club (JHBC) conducted free screening for breast and prostate cancer at the Bell House, Camp John Hay.
Hundreds of Camp John Hay employees, locators and residents surrounding the John Hay reservation area benefited from the said activity. The free screening was administered by volunteer doctors from the Saint Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart (SLU Hospital) and the Baguio General Hospital (BGH). Benevolent donors shouldered the clinical screening of those who subjected themselves for the physical examination. Some were found out to have lumps and were requested to avail a second screening at a later date at affiliate hospitals.
Dr. Sherry T. Ong-Cunanan from the Breast Center of SLU Hospital and Dr. Francis Yabut, a urologist, delivered lectures about the signs and symptoms of breast and prostate cancer. Both emphasized that its early detection is important in order to overcome the disease.
JHMC- Gender and Development conducts breast and prostate awareness programs, yearly, as part of its advocacy in promoting a city wide campaign for the disease.
