Baguio City – In order to bridge the gap between diversity and to promote health and education, JHMC under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program reinforced its commitment towards community development, touching hundreds of lives within the reservation through educational institutions and partner agencies.

Brigada Eskwela

Just recently, the JHMC pooled its resources to participate in the brigada eskwela activities of Happy Hollow Elementary School, Baguio Country Club Village Elementary School, Baguio City High School – Hillside Annex, Lindawan Elementary School, Lindawan National High School and Jose P. Laurel Elementary School.  JHMC volunteers who consisted of JHMC employees, service and security providers, cleaned classrooms, repaired tables and chairs, fixed electrical wiring, painted classrooms and comfort rooms, assisted in the landscaping of school gardens, and fabricated a canopy.

Up to this date, JHMC continues to  sort materials for the following schools: San Vicente National High School,  Quezon Hill Elementary School, Loakan Elementary School, Gilbert Simon Elementary School and Kias Elementary School.

JHMC supports the Brigada Eskwela activities of the Department of Education.  Annually, its  public school beneficiaries are increasing and its activity areas are  wider in scope reaching as far as the Benguet Province last year.

Health and Human Rights, Linking Diversity

Health and Human Rights, Linking Diversity is an offshoot of last year’s Project: Kalusugan.  In an urgent call to focus on adolescent health and development, JHMC collaborates with the Baguio City Health Services Office to address this issue.

Hundreds of adolescents from various barangays like San Vicente, Gabriela Silang, BGH Compound, Engineer’s Hill, Green Valley Dominican-Mirador, San Luis, San Carlos, Saint Joseph Village, Salud Mitra, Military Cut-Off, Marcoville, Upper General Luna, Camp 8 including the 14 barangays surrounding the John Hay reservation gathered at Scout Barrio Gymnasium to attend health care to raise awareness of the impact of the problem.

Overall, the said activity provides an opportunity for the young people to enjoy healthy, wholesome and beneficial encounters with their peers within their communities thereby linking the gap of diversity.  Further, JHMC was able to instill in their minds the act of being responsible to manage their own health, sexuality and development.
