TABUK City, Kalinga – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) through the KALIPI Federation of Tabuk celebrated Women’s Month Culmination Day on March 30, 2022.
At least 75 KALIPI chapter representatives in the city joined the event and engaged in various fun activities such as parlor games, intermission numbers, raffle draws, among others.
To Acting Vice Mayor Zorayda Wacnang, the culmination day was special as it has been 2 years of no physical activities for women. “Daytuy iti bulan tayo nga kababaihan. Daytuy iti pakaidayawan dagiti naaramidan, naipangabak ken akem tayo akas babbai iti ili tayo,” she said.
The event’s keynote speaker was Atty. Maria Linda Gabit Gavino. She used the theme “we make change work for women” to empower women in her message, saying that to empower women, one must first empower herself, and then cultivate the practice of empowering other women.
According to Gavino, no one knows what other women are going through, and a simple uplifting could go a long way toward improving someone’s mental health. She addressed several psychological issues, such as stress, that a woman, particularly a mother, is likely to face. She continued, “Women should defend other women.”
During the event, the oath of office of Madopdop, Lacnog West KALIPI Organization headed by their Chapter President Rosamella Gayagay, and KALIPI Federation Officers headed by President Reynalyn Albert were administered by Mayor Darwin Estrañero.
The mayor offered his congratulations to the newly elected officers as he also praised the CSWDO for its tireless efforts in promoting the city government’s various programs to various sectors and organizations in the community, particularly during Women’s Month. “Dakayo ti mabigbigbig a katulungan ti pagsayaatan iti gobyerno, komunidad, ken iti uneg mismo ti babalay tayo.”
