LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal government wants government offices and private establishments in the municipality to upgrade their respective closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to be able to monitor and detect the doubtful activities of their workers and their clients and to deter the occurrence of untoward incidents that pose a serious threat to life and limb.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda stated that government offices and private establishments should invest in the upgrading of their installed CCTV cameras to be able to detect the activities of people that are regularly transacting businesses with them and deter the occurrence of incidents leading to loss or damage to properties, among others.
He added that the local government and police authorities had been receiving reports on alleged robbery incidents committed in a number of government offices and private establishments that resulted to loss of properties that is why it is now important for the said facilities to install the appropriate monitoring devices to be able to identify the culprits of the said incidents for them to be arrested and answer for the crimes they have committed.
The local chief executive claimed that while establishments complied with the required installation of CCTV cameras in their respective businesses and offices, the rapid advancement of technology has made these inefficient that is why it is important for the said establishments and offices to start improving the current status of the CCTV cameras to serve their purpose.
Mayor Salda stipulated that private establishments must embrace the latest technology to help them prevent the occurrence of untoward incidents that pose a serious threat to the loss of properties.
He solicited the support of the establishments to the existing order from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for them to install their respective CCTV cameras as part of the participation of the businesses in deterring the occurrence of untoward incidents that could lead to loss of properties and to ensure the immediate identification of the culprits who commit such incidents and to warn such individuals that the government means business in its campaign to prevent untoward incidents that might affect the image of the municipality in the eyes of investors.
According to him, the local government and the law enforcement agencies are doing their best to implement anti-criminality programs and projects to deter the commission of crimes against persons and properties but it is also important for the people to do their part to ensure that evil motives of lawless elements will be thwarted to sustain the identity of the municipality as one of the peaceful and orderly urban centers in the country.
Salda expressed hope that the government offices and private establishments will heed the call of the municipal government for them to upgrade the installed CCTV cameras to deter the commission of robbery incidents and to guarantee the proper identification of the culprits that committed such incidents for the filing of the appropriate charges against them.
