SADANGA, Mtn. Province – Some eight couples joined the wedding rites before Mayor Jose Limmayog sans the marriage licenses on August 7, 2018.
Exemption for the acquisition of marriage licenses were covered and granted under Article 34 of the Family Code which states that couples living together as husband and wife for at least five (5) years without legal impediments may avail of the provision.
All the couples have been living together for more than five years.
5 couples came from Betwagan and the 3 are residents of Posong, Anabel, Sadanga.
As interviewed by the Municipal Registrar’s office, these couples said that they applied for civil wedding as they wanted to legalize their marriage for the legitimation of their children. On reason revealed is that the Certificate of Marriage is needed for the availment of government services such as in the Pantawid Program.
Mrs. Indina Pinartoc, one of the spouses, learned of acquiring the requirement and convinced her husband about the requisite of acquiring the Certificate of Marriage. Her neighbours learned of it also in due time and joined in the intention of availing civil marriages.
Most of the couples have three (3) children.
The couples who were exempted from the marriage license are Antonio Pinartoc and Indina Con-o, Ceasar Lumatac and Marsa Pit-oy, Peter Tangeb and Juliet Nestor, Ronie Lumatac and Narcisa Kayang-o, Ricmar Alindayo and Erma Awisan, Rafael Camareg and Veron Suyam.
Those with marriage license are Augusto Chumaryeng and Christina Aronney as well as Elmo Fanganan and Freda Lamag
The marriages of the six couples were solemnized in the municipal grounds while the 2 were done at the mayor’s office.
