BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government led by Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., partnered with the Schools Division Office (SDO)-Mountain Province to conduct a three-day training called the “OPLAN LIW-LIWA Symposium.” Held from May 31 to June 2, 2023, the symposium took place at Serapio Gawan National High School, Paracelis Technical Vocational High School, and Natonin Stand Alone Senior High School.
The main objective of the symposium was to enrich and enhance students’ knowledge in education, culture, environment, and mental health awareness. It also aimed to provide career guidance to graduating students, assisting them in making informed decisions about their future after graduation.
The event was officiated by Maria Nelda A. Lo, the Community Affairs Officer and Activity Coordinator. During her introduction, she highlighted the Provincial Support Services and emphasized the funding provided by the Special Education Fund (SEF) of the provincial government. This funding was intended to equip students with the necessary skills to face future challenges and emphasized the importance of education for both learners and parents.
Division Superintendent Benilda M. Daytaca expressed gratitude to the provincial government for its continuous support to DepEd’s endeavors and emphasized the holistic development of learners through Oplan Liwliwa.
In turn, Executive Assistant Ernesto B. Bondad relayed Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan’s message to the participants.
Throughout the symposium, various topics were discussed, including the Safe Space Act (Act No. 7877), enhancements on education, culture, and environment, proactive/responsible parenthood, and career choices after graduation.
Aside from Bondad, knowledge and insights were shared by notable individuals such as Board Member Angel Moises Tamang, Sonia C. Batnag, Dr. Dalome Peckley, Renalyn B. Codod, Executive Assistant June C. Pinayakan, DepEd Atty. Dawn Novera T. Ancheta, and PESO Manager Emilio Ernesto.
Additionally, in attendance at the event held at Natonin Stand Alone Senior High School were former board member and municipal administrator Johny F. Lausan, Vice Mayor Raymundo L. Lapasen, Principal Javier B. Edchamag, MSWDO representative Maylanie G. Amsia, and Barangay Kagawad Romeo Dalayday. By Faith L. By JSC
