BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Mountain Province Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Center (MPAFEC) conducted a Year-End Assessment and Evaluation cum Mental Health and Well-being Awareness Workshop at the Rock Inn Farm in Sagada on December 10 & 11, 2023.
The activity was attended by agricultural extension workers (AEWs) from the Department of Agriculture, municipal local government units and the provincial government.
According to MPAFEC In-Charge and Provincial Veterinarian Rodelio B. Bagawi, the year-end assessment aims to review the accomplishments and the activities of the provincial government’s MPAFEC and find areas for improvement in the implementations of programs or activities.
Through the province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Fund which was turned over by the Department of Agriculture, the provincial government’s MPAFEC has partnered with different institutions to implement several capability-building activities and extension services to improve the knowledge and skills of the AEWs.
Bagawi said that the activity also aims to incorporate the importance of mental health awareness to the AEWs to promote positive well-being and enhance work productivity.
Moreover, Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. ,delivered by June C. Pinayakan of the Provincial Legal Office, urged the participants to take the activity as an opportunity to look at how to sustain the good practices and innovate or further improve on some areas that are lacking as based on the results of the conducted activities. Pinayakan also assured the continuous support of the governor to the agriculture sector of the province.
Also present during the assessment was Pedro Pinos-an, the new Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer for Mountain Province. In his message, he mentioned the continuous partnership among all concerned agencies and offices to continue to help the local farmers and fisherfolk.
Meanwhile, Psychologist Eleonor B. Batnag of the Provincial Health Office was invited to serve as a resource speaker on mental health awareness in the workplace. According to her, having a positive wellbeing improves one’s productivity, helps establish a good workplace relationship and becomes more adaptable to changes. By MP Press Release
