City officials recently requested the National Bureau of Investigation – Cordillera Administrative Region (NBI-CAR) to conduct an investigation and possible filing of cases relative to the alleged illegal acts of the Bagong Lahing Pilipino (BLP) Multipurpose Cooperative also known as Bagong Lahing Pilipino Development Foundation, Inc. and a person named Jovito Camangon Salonga, vice chairman of the said organization, for reportedly issuing fake land titles for the protection of the public.
Under Resolution No. 087, series of 2024, local legislators stated that during the deliberations, they were alarmed by the questionable activities concerning alleged fraudulent titles issued by the aforesaid organization covering various parcels of lands in the different parts of the city.
On January 22, 2024, the council passed Resolution No. 048, series of 2024 that issued a strong warning to the public against the reported fraudulent activities of the Bagong Lahing Pilipino Multipurpose Cooperative also known as Bagong Lahing Pilipino Development Foundation, Inc. and urged the public to immediately report any encounter, information, or any suspicious activities regarding any entity or individuals issuing and promising fraudulent Torrens titles in the city.
The council noted that in aid of legislation, officers of the said organization represented by Mr. Salonga, vice chairman of the group, were invited as resource persons to clarify matters regarding their operations and issuance of purported Torrens titles to certain residents of the city.
Some councilors claimed that they had relatives who received alleged fake land titles from the organization in exchange of a still undisclosed amount of money and upon their assessment and evaluation, the issued titles were fake that casts doubts on the integrity of the group in issuing titles covering various parcels of land in the city.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the NBI-CAR for the agency’s information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
