TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Kinder to Grade 6 pupils of Catao Elementary School (ES) in barangay Lacnog were treated to free haircut, feeding and oral hygiene services during the outreach program spearheaded by the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS) today.
This activity is part of the month-long celebration of the 28th Police Community Relations (PCR) with the theme “Serbisyong nagkakaisa para sa ligtas at maunlad na pamayanan”.
PCMS Ford Wassig of the TCPS said that Catao ES was chosen as the beneficiary of this outreach program after a request was made by Rey Abannag, the school head.
Tabuk City Fire Station (TCFS) officials were also present and gave lectures on fire safety and prevention and discussed the issue of illegal drugs and activities.
Residents of Catao showed their support by attending the lectures and taking advantage of the services provided.
Napoleon Ayang-ang, who is standing in for City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, underlined in his speech that this activity is one way the city government and its partner organizations are bringing services closer to the people.
He claimed that it is crucial to have a conversation about illegal drugs since, if not used as couriers, young children can be persuaded to use them by the promise of little payment.
As the month-long celebration of PCR unfolds, the TCPS has scheduled other events.
