KABAYAN, Benguet – More than 800 people benefitted from the HEALTHIER Benguet Caravan held at Saint Francis Xavier Parish in Poblacion, Kabayan, Benguet on Friday, June 30.
The said caravan spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas offered medical-dental and paralegal services, artificial insemination for swine, anti-rabies vaccination and deworming, distribution of seeds, releasing of patents, and RPT collection.
The services were provided by the different department offices at the Provincial Government complemented by the Registry of Deeds (ROD), Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO), and the Philippine Dental Association and other volunteer groups.
The Kabayan leg of the caravan was in partnership with the Municipal Government of Kabayan headed by Mayor Florante Bantales, Jr. This is the second leg, Kibungan being the first which was held in March this year.
Based on record, at least 116 individuals received their patents, 14 farmers received financial assistance with a total amount of P115,000.00 for their farm produce damaged by typhoon “Betty”, one cooperative was granted P500,000.00 worth of zero-interest loan assistance, 26 daycare workers received P5,000.00 worth of financial assistance, one farmer organization was provided with 200 guyabano seedlings, over 20 participated in the Basic Karate Self Defense Tactics, and the rest availed of other services such as medical consultation, circumcision, x-ray services, prenatal services, dental services, basic medical check-up, and paralegal services. Medicines were distributed, and free lunch was provided for the beneficiaries.
In his message during an activity, Governor Diclas, who initiated the program, thanked all the offices, agencies, and volunteers who were part of the successful holding of the caravan, adding the Provincial Government is committed to providing government services closer to the people.
The next leg of the HEALTHIER Benguet Caravan, which is set to be conducted quarterly, will be held in one of the municipalities in District II, he added.
