LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Rep. Eric Yap is working out the allocation of some P200 million for the construction of several multi-million school buildings in different parts of the province to further improve the learning environment of learners for the upcoming school years.
He said that the proposed school buildings will be situated in Tacadang, Kibungan, Bangao, Buguias; Kapangan; Itogon, Tuba among others that urgently need the modern type school buildings to address the need for additional classrooms for the increasing population of learners in the said towns.
The lawmaker claimed that the needed funds for the aforesaid school buildings range from P25 to P40 million as earlier requested by the education department following the reports on the damages to school facilities caused by the wrath of Supertyphoon Egay and the enhanced southwest monsoon several months ago.
Congressman Yap assured his all-out support to the holistic development of the youth through the establishment of a conducive learning environment for the children and exposing them to various kinds of sports that will mold them to become well-rounded leaders in the future.
According to him, education is the best inheritance that parents and guardians could give their children because it cannot be easily taken away from them and that they could use the same to become productive citizens of the country through various activities that will uplift the living condition of their families in the future.
The Benguet solon asserted that he will continue to do his best in sourcing out funds to sustain the implementation of high impact development projects in the different parts of the province, especially the rehabilitation, upgrading, opening and construction of road networks, that will contribute in spurring economic growth and overall progress in far flung villages in the future.
However, he explained that the funding for the said road projects will be prioritized considering the government’s limited fund sources although he will still make the appropriate representations with the concerned government agencies for them to prioritize the urgent need for roads and basic infrastructure in the province to be able to catch up with the pace of development in other areas.
Congressman yap stipulated that the road leading to the remote village of Tacadang will be opened soonest that will pave the way for residents from the said area who went to other places understandably to look for sources of income can now conveniently go back home to their place and establish their desired economic activities to help generate jobs for their family members and relatives alike.
He emphasized that he will continue working hard to help in uplifting the province’s classification from a second class to a first-class province considering its current status as one of the trade centers in the cordillera being the Salad Bowl of the Philippines or the source of some 82 percent of semi-temperate vegetables being sold in the different markets around the archipelago.
