MANKAYAN, Benguet – The municipal government disclosed that Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap provided the P4 million for the construction of the barangay hall and multipurpose facility of barangay Cabiten here.

Last Friday, the construction of the barangay hall in sitio Guiweng broke ground in an area that was donated by concerned residents for the realization of the aforesaid project which is one of the major developments that will be implemented by the present administration.

Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong and Cabiten barangay officials led the groundbreaking ceremony to jumpstart the implementation of the project for the realization of the same within the year or probably by early next year depending on the performance of the contractor of the project.

Mayor Ayong stated that the construction of the barangay hall and other similar building and road development projects courtesy of the funds that were generated by Congressman Yap is just the start of more development projects that will be implemented in the municipality not only for this year but also in the coming years.

He expressed his gratitude to Congressman Yap for making the municipality as his second home -and for supporting the current thrusts of his administration as it will open the opportunities for the implementation of more development projects beneficial to the greater majority of the populace.

During his earlier visit to the municipality, Congressman Yap assured municipal official the provision of appropriate funds for the road opening from Las-igan, Cabiten to Bao-angan, Comillas in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur that will enhance inter-regional travel aside from ensuring the significant improvement of the Tubo-Sayapot section of the Balili road that will be widened to be able to accommodate two-way traffic in the future.

According to him, the appointment of Congressman Yap as the province’s legislative caretaker last year proved to be a blessing to the people of Benguet because of his outstanding performance in accessing numerous assistance from various agencies where thousands of deserving residents from the 13 municipalities were able to benefit from apart from the different infrastructure projects that are now being currently implemented provincewide.

Ayong stipulated that provincial, municipal and barangay officials are supportive of the desire of the lawmaker to make Benguet one of the well-developed provinces in the future that is why they are also doing their part to work out what will be the best programs, projects and activities that local governments are capable of funding to compliment his initiatives.

The mayor explained that Congressman Yap is doing his best to contribute in the development of the province and that he has shown his passion and desire to serve for the greater interest of the people and that is clearly illustrated by the fact that he goes out of his way to use his personal resources just to ensure that he will be able to extend the needed help during these difficult times primarily due to the ongoing Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 pandemic.

He underscored that by the way things are going, it will be likely that Benguet will be able to move to greater heights with the lawmaker at the helm as evidence by what he was able to prove to the people even if in a caretaker status. By Hent
