LUNA, Apayao – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Apayao Irrigation Management Office (IMO) successfully completed a solar pump irrigation initiative in Brgy. San Jose, Luna.
Funded through NIA’s Establishment of Groundwater Pump Irrigation Project (EGPIP) 2023, the project, valued at PhP7.896 million, features a newly installed solar pump system and a one-kilometer canal lining, expanding irrigation capabilities by 20 hectares in the West Apayao Abulug Irrigation System (WAAIS).
Further, NIA Apayao Acting Division Manager Samuel Bahiwag led the inspection of another Solar Pump Irrigation Project for WAAIS on November 10, 2023.
Also funded under EGPIP 2023 with a contract amount of P11,325,034.96, said project establishes two solar-powered pump systems with complete accessories and canal lining spanning 1.032 kilometers.
These systems are located in Barangay Tayak and Barangay San Julian in Abulug, Cagayan, with the aim of serving 40 hectares in the WAAIS. By JCM
